Check out The Boston Globe blog entitled Martian Skies, and pay close attention to the 7th and 8th pictures down on the page, both of which are animated and hard to miss. If these pictures are to be believed then, put quite simply, Mars is inhabitated by giant Air Elementals clearly hell-bent on ridding the universe of humans. Just LOOK.

Just when I thought I wasn’t going to post or make any further comments on spiders and the pure evil that they are (again, despite their obvious benefits to the environment), something like this comes along that makes me want to get in a shower for a day.
Huge spider web attracts flies, gawkers

Superheroes have made quite the comeback in television, film, and video-gaming over the last few years. I’m all for the comeback, especially when well done. It has gotten me to thinking a lot about super powers, and what the world would really be like if they existed.
Do you think, given the current state of the world and the general idea of self, that if super powers were present in a select few, that most of that group would tend to use their powers in selfish ways? Would powers just be a way to be popular, rich, or esteemed? How many of the group, let’s say of 100 people, would choose to use their powers to help others and be true heroes?
Let’s give out a power or two here: If you had super-human strength, super-human healing and toughness, and the ability to fly, what would you do? Would you use your powers for truth and justice? Would you use them to horde wealth, draw in ranks of goons to do your bidding, and establish an ellaborate, if not completely ineffective, super-stronghold shaped like your head?
Who has thoughts? Are they super-human?

Apparently, El Niño has formed once again and will last into 2007. Honest, you can read all about it. Apparently, this weather phenomenon occurs from time to time, although the last time, in 1997-1998, was quite severe. That’s the first time I ever remember hearing anything about El Niño.
In any case, I found this after having seen it only once when it aired live. I find it to be outlandishly humorous, and thus, I present to you Chris Farley as El Niño.

I woke up this morning believing there were nine planets in our solar system. After a little morning news, I’ve discovered there are now only eight. Pluto has been reclassified as a dwarf planet and is no longer counted in with the other eight “classical” planets. What does this mean to you? Are you sad? Am I sad?
More information on our lost planet.

I’m not really even sure how to comment on the link I’m going to provide. I will say that at first, after just seeing the headling, I had no idea what to expect. As I read the story I was overcome with laughter and then utter confusion. I don’t know what else to say. But, here you go:
