Don’t Know… Never Been Attack By Tree – If you were worried that Godzilla might never surface in Japan again, you can lay your anxiety to rest. Apparently, the thunder lizard has made a reappearance in a slightly unusual way. Well, because his other appearances are generally made in usual ways. In any case, I give you this to ponder. Watch the video at the bottom of the page for the original Godzilla music (also with an exerpt or two of Mussorgsky’s Great Gate of Kiev).

Admittedly, it’s been a while since I’ve gotten one of these together. Well, here goes.
Stefan G. Bucher’s DAILY MONSTER - This is amazing. An artist has been doing a daily monster beginning with splattering of ink and limited only by his playground of an imagination. The ones he’s animated at the end are very fun. Most of all, I’d like to be able to draw and ink that quickly. Kudos to great work.
Some Dumb Site – it was YouTube when YouTube wasn’t cool. The good Daniel Isenhower, now a co-worker mind you, created this haven of all things video, boredom killer, and link for all the world to use and contribute. Quite fun.

Ok, so it’s been a long time since my last post. I had been on quite a roll for me, but inevitably life caught up and the blogging came to a screeching halt. I’ll try to get going again, but no real promises. In any case, when I hit these lulls, it usually takes something that is truly worth sharing to get me going again. Well, here it is…
Godzilla on the Tokyo Skyline – this is just a brilliant idea for someone who it appears comes up with quite a few for blog-reader enjoyment. I’d certainly check it out if for nothing else than the artistic renderings.
Star Trek Map – Yes, I’m a huge Star Trek fan. I was raised on, so I had little choice in the matter. Still love it, and this map has way too much fictional detail to not drool over. Hey… it’s geek peeks.

Darth Vader’s First Assignment is a really well done short film splicing together audio and visuals from Star Wars and Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. Thanks to co-worker and arch-enemy Josh Cherry for the link.
The Shire, Place of Enchantment – Ever want to settle down in the Old World? Well, this planned community in Oregon attempts to make your dreams come true. Don’t expect Hobbits though. This is eighteenth century England Shire and not Tolkien Shire. Too bad. Since it’s not Tolkien, I’m not really sure if this classifies as a true “Geek Peek”, but I’m putting it here anyway. Let’s be honest, I clicked on it initially because I thought it may be Tokien-related, and I’m guessing their marketing people probably figured that’d happen. Targeted Geek acquired.

A quick turn around for Geek Peeks this week, but I ran across an item that begged attention.
The Stormtrooper Effect and The Inverse Ninja Law - is a wikipedia entry that has an outlandish amount of information. Completely worth reading for, “‘What would happen if Imperial Stormtroopers and [Star Trek] Redshirts got in a firefight?’ is well-known among fans of both series. It’s a paradox, because even though it’s a redshirt’s destiny to die quickly at the hands of the enemy, Stormtroopers simply wouldn’t be able to kill them due to their poor combat skills.” Okay, so I gave that part away, but it’s still worth reading.

The Gray Ooze That Ate the Indonesian Villages – Looks like at least one creature from the world of Dungeons & Dragons may have been discovered. Who would have thought that gray ooze could have possibly grown so large. I’d have to say that this one probably has better than 3d8+3 hit dice.
Is World of Warcraft More Than a Game? – Newsweek has a three page story all about the phenomenon that is the massive multi-play online role-playing game that is World of Warcraft. Now, I admit that I played WoW quite a bit there for a while, but I did eventually lose most interest in it. Until I started playing again about a month ago, albeit at a greatly reduced rate. More than a game? I don’t know. I’m sure some it is for some, but then again, so is poker.

I’m going to attempt to begin a tradition here. I’m not sure how often this will come about, but I’ll try to accomplish the task somewhat regularly. Thus, I give you Geek Peeks. I’ll be starting with a couple of links I have just run across that play directly at my love of Science Fiction and Fantasy literature, movies, and television programming.
Write Your Name in Elvish in Ten Minutes – this site is dedicated to providing you with all the information you need to write your name in J.R.R. Tokiens’ Elvish writing. I guess this could really be useful if you’re trying to come up with a fun new way of signing your name. I enjoyed this site primarily because I’m a huge Tolkien fan, and I am amazed at the man’s accomplishment of creating languages.
Jeff Russell’s STARSHIP DIMENSIONS – is one of the coolest sites I’ve seen in a while. According to the site’s description, it is “…intended to allow science fiction fans to get an impression of the true scale of their favorite science fiction spacecraft by being able to compare ships across genres, as well as being able to compare them with contemporary objects with which they are probably familiar.” An inordinate amount of effort was made in creating this site, and if your a fan of the genre, you could spend an awful lot of time here.
